New York—Pregnant patients presenting with chronic migraines should be considered for sphenopalatine ganglion block (SPGB) treatment before being treated with systemic medication, according to a team of anesthesiologists from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, in New Brunswick, N.J.
The researchers said even though SPGB has been documented as being practiced since 1909, many physicians are not aware of it, and there are minimal data regarding its use for treating migraines.
