Gulf War veterans with chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMP) showed smaller gray matter volumes in brain regions that regulate pain and larger volumes in those that detect pain sensitivity, according to a research article appearing in the Journal of Neuroscience (2022;42[28]:5605-5616).
Researchers evaluated brain volume and associated symptoms to find more pain, fatigue and sedentary time, worse mood, and less moderate to vigorous physical activity among those with CMP.
Researchers sampled 170 Gulf
