DRG Study Elucidates Multiple Chronic Neuropathic Pain Mechanisms, Identifies Treatment Targets

Spontaneous activity in the dorsal root ganglion was associated with neuropathic pain in a new study on correlations between electrophysiologic and RNA data in samples taken in patients with and without chronic radicular/neuropathic pain.

Important differences also were noted between male and female samples, suggesting that sex has an effect on RNA features associated with the illness. The research was published in Brain (2019;142[5]:1215-1226).
