Short-Term Perioperative Opioid Prescriptions Decrease Patients’ Risk for Drug Dependency

A postoperative restrictive opioid prescription protocol (ROPP) limiting the supply of opioids up to three days, in conjunction with patient education to deter opioid dependence, does not compromise patients’ postsurgical recovery.
