Delayed Dispensing of Opioid Prescriptions Points to Overprescribing for Acute Pain

Nearly 1% of opioid prescriptions written by surgeons and dentists in the United States were filled more than 30 days later, a potential sign of prescription opioid misuse, according to a cross-sectional study published in JAMA Network Open (2022;5[5]:e2214311).
