Ibuprofen Found to Cause Kidney Damage in Endurance Athletes
A Stanford-led study found that ultramarathoners who take ibuprofen for pain relief during races are at double the risk for acute kidney injuries compared with the general population. According to Grant Lipman, MD, director of the Stanford Wilderness Medicine Fellowship, up to 75% of ultramarathoners use ibuprofen to treat pain during races.
