Researchers at the Toronto General Hospital (TGH) have found that psychological support and new coping mechanisms helped patients at high risk for chronic pain wean themselves off their opioid regimens through activities that were enjoyable to them. The investigators also found that all patients showed reductions in pain and anxiety.
The study report, “Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to Manage Pain and Opioid Use After Major Surgery: Preliminary Outcomes From the Toronto General
