In an effort to reduce medication administration errors related to name confusion between the opioid analgesics hydromorphone and morphine, four ready-to-administer prefilled syringes of Dilaudid (hydromorphone hydrochloride) injection have been made immediately available in the United States, according to a press release by Fresenius Kabi.
The drug is now available for the following commonly used strengths: 0.5 mg per 0.5 mL; 1 mg per 1 mL; 2 mg per 1 mL; and 4 mg per 1 mL.
