A review of existing literature published in the January/February issue of the Journal of Addiction Medicine, an official publication of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), has concluded that while research generally supports the use of psychosocial interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in the treatment of opioid addiction, the amount and quality of the evidence are lacking, particularly with regard to safety and efficacy.
