High Rates of Pelvic Muscle Dyssynergia Seen in OIC Patients

New research finds that patients with constipation related to opioid use were significantly more likely to experience dyssynergic defecation, a discoordination between pelvic floor muscles and surrounding muscles and nerves, than people with chronic constipation not taking opioids. Severe constipation was also significantly more frequent in patients with opioid-induced constipation.
