Growing Opioid Crisis in Adults Increases Risk for Fatal Pediatric Poisonings

Between 2005 and 2018, there were over 730 fatalities from opioid poisoning among young children up to 5 years of age. Furthermore, in 2005, opioids accounted for 24.1% of poisoning deaths in children, growing to 52.2% in 2018, according to data from a recent study.
