Initiating oxycodone in patients who were being treated for depression with the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) paroxetine and fluoxetine resulted in a significantly higher risk for opioid overdose than other SSRIs, in a cohort study of more than 2 million adults in the United States.
