As Opioid Deaths Fall, CDC Drills Down on Causes

Death from drug overdose is trending lower nationally for the first time in more than five years, according to the CDC and government agencies responsible for tracking death certificates listing drug abuse. Methamphetamine abuse and cocaine overdose are accounting for more drug overdose deaths, as a percentage of population, while 70,655 died from opioid overdose last year, according to the CDC.
