CDC Warns Against Aspirin, NSAIDs for Suspected Zika Virus Joint Pain Until Diagnosis Confirmed

The threat of the mosquito-borne Zika virus is now leading the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to warn women of childbearing age to avoid traveling to areas where it is quickly spreading. The CDC also is reminding individuals who suspect they are infected with the virus to avoid treating suspected Zika-related joint pain with aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) until they are certain of the cause.
