A cross-sectional analysis of the IQVIA Longitudinal Prescription Data found an uptick in dental opioid prescribing during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a recent study.
The IQVIA Longitudinal Prescription Data reported 92% of prescriptions dispensed in U.S. retail pharmacies. Between 2016 and 2022, it was found that dental opioid prescribing decreased 45%, but this reduction trend slowed during the pandemic (PLoS One 2023;18[11]:e0293621).
