Propofol TIVA Results in Shorter PACU Stay for Outpatient Shoulder Arthroscopy

SAN FRANCISCO—Use of total IV anesthesia (TIVA) with propofol significantly reduces PACU I time relative to inhaled general anesthesia in patients undergoing ambulatory shoulder arthroscopy, a new study has concluded.

Other benefits observed in TIVA patients included significantly reduced total time to discharge, as well as significantly reduced antiemetic use, leading the investigators to recommend its use as the anesthetic
