A new study has found that women with higher diastolic blood pressure are more likely to have migraines, indicating a potential link between migraines and reduced function of small blood vessels instead of large blood vessels.
The study showed that for each standard deviation increase in diastolic blood pressure—when the heart is resting between beats—women had a 16% higher chance of experiencing migraines. No link was found with systolic blood pressure, when the heart is contracting
