The Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Pain Interference (PI) scale was found to be superior to the Likert Pain Scale for assessing the impact of pain on self-reported physical function, and may better capture the effect of pain on patient health, according to a study of spine patients.
“Currently, there is no agreed-upon set of PROMs [general patient-reported outcome measures] used in spine care,” said primary study author David Bernstein, MBA, MA, MD
