Planning Prompts, Prescription Guidance May Help Reduce Opioid Overdoses

Data from a recently published study indicate that physicians who are informed of a patient’s drug overdose and offered augmented prescribing guidance, which include if/when-then prompts, prescribe lower doses of opioids than those who are notified of a patient’s overdose and only offered guidance on judicious prescription practices.
